Motocross GP - Valkenswaard
Newcomer this season in the MX1 class, Jeremy Van Horebeek will roll for the first time in his career on a 450 on the famous "Valkenswaard Euro Circuit"
Third round of the World Championship 2013, Grand Prix of the Netherlands is a regular phase of the World. For Jeremy Van Horebeek this will be 'real start' of the season, as the Kawasaki Racing Team driver has broken a finger a few weeks ago, and was disabled in Qatar and Thailand. But after winning two successive podium finishes in the championship of the Netherlands, Jeremy feels ready for this weekend.
Jeremy, ca should be good to back on the podium?
Of course, and here is good for the morale! When I returned from Thailand I needed to go shopping to prepare Valkenswaard, and the two championship events in the Netherlands, who competed in the sand was a good opportunity. In Halle Oldebroek like I had good starts, I felt better than in Thailand and two podiums facing other GP riders have done well.
How do you feel before the Grand Prix?
I feel good, you know I have worked very hard to get since they returned to Belgium and now I have less problem with my finger. I am every day with my physio and I get a specific treatment for the finger, which makes me suffer less now. I still have to work to get more strength in the hand, but it's already much better than for the first GP! I feel ready for this weekend, and I hope that I would be able to run at my true level.
In both tests Netherlands you showed that you were fit?
It was a good feeling to be that every time on the podium. I had good starts - I changed some settings on the bike, and I have a better feeling at the start - and then I kept a good pace, even if it was quite difficult at the end of round. I was unable to train normally since the injury, and it was even more important for me to do some shopping in recent weeks. I spent a lot of time on my Kawasaki, and suddenly we could continue to adapt to my driving style.
Valkenswaard, you have fond memories of this circuit?
Not really, since I've never been on the podium there. Often it is the first or second race of the season, and there is a lot of pressure when you're one of the candidates for the title. This year is different, I feel more calm and relaxed, the team does not put any pressure on me and I'm ready to surprise a few! I know I'll have a lot of friends and fans on the edge of the track, it will be great to hear encouragement, and I want to show them that I'm back in shape!
This year you will run in the opposite direction from previous years. What do you think, and what is your goal?
That rotates in one direction or the other matter to me, it is sand and that's all. I just hope that the plot will be technical, and there will be no huge jumps as we saw in Qatar and Thailand. Driving fast in the sand is complicated enough without adding unnecessary risks, such as big jumps. Talking objective is quite difficult, the only race where I was in good condition dating back to January - Mantova - and I was not even close physically. Say that I hope to finish at least one round in the top seven this weekend!
